Friday, September 13, 2013

One company in particular that caught our attention was Virtue, a bicycle company out of San Diego, California. The owner, William Mulyadi, told us all about Virtue’s new bicycle called the “School Bus.” This particular model uses some of the latest technology in cycling engineering, yet retains its vintage European design. The “School Bus” is a 7-speed bicycle with an integrated boxed seating area located towards the front of the bicycle!

Come along and enjoy the ride. My Virtue

Sunday, November 4, 2012

If there was one thing that Sandy did besides serve as a reminder to be thankful for the little things, it was to act as a catalyst and get me to purchase some new wheels. In the short time that I’ve had my bike, I’ve been discovering a different way of life in the city. Earlier today I did some cruising around and felt a sense of freedom that I’ve never had here before. It was and IS magnificent!

Bikes For The Rest Of Us. Virtue 6

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

I took a Virtue Six for a test ride today. It’s a sweet bike, but not quite right for me. I love the look and it was a fun, smooth ride, but it weighs 28 lbs [with fenders] and is a 6-speed. I want a lower low gear to get around in San Francisco. I’m also of two minds about the lack of quick release wheels.

Ever since I first moved to Long Beach, I was anxious to get a bike. Long Beach is a bikers’ utopia! Well, I finally bought a bike on July 12th. I got a Virtue One at The Bicycle Stand. The Virtue One is the first single-speed bike I’ve had since I was a little kid—always mountain bikes for me—and it’s an elegantly minimalist vehicle that just glides along the path, compared to a mountain bike.

Virtue! The $300 dollar single speed

Thursday, September 22, 2011

A San Diego bike company named Virtue is putting out a single speed and a 6 speed that are both under $300. Possible, misprint, attention getting fabrication?

The Virtue 1 is described as “a cruiser without the weight” with wide handlebar and coaster brake wheels and runs on townie 700c tires.

The Virtue 6 sports a 6 Speed Shimano Drive-Train and Tektro Brake-System, wide Porteur alloy handlebar and riveted seat.

Interbike Eye Candy of a Different Flavor: Urban Bikes

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

At Interbike, we grabbed a few photos of these stylish machines. I'm a fan partly because I spend a lot of time rolling around town doing errands on my bike. So, a stylish townie? Yes, please. They aren't the ideal bike for a long commute, I'd probably still reach for the roady for that job. But for errands and coffee runs, sign me up.

This black beauty is a Virtue. I see them around my town on occasion.
I keep looking for Vice to come jumping out of the bushes.

Yeah Baby! Transportational Elegance Reigns at Interbike 2011

A Pedersen-esque contraption from Virtue Bikes.

Interbike: Steel...

Sunday, September 18, 2011

Steel seems to occupy a couple places in today's bicycle market. It is the dominant material being used for utility/commuter bikes, and it will always be the sentimental favorite for people like me, who grew up with steel frames, appreciate the tradition, admire the artistic capabilities of the material. Now that Claremont has its own, original Pedersen, this modern recreation based on the Pedersen design, is maybe a little less impressive in my eyes. still, interesting to see someone (Virtue) giving that older design a try

Virtue Bikes

Friday, September 16, 2011

Virtue is a new San Diego based brand with a distinct edge over some of the other recent start up companies, they own bicycle factories in China and Indonesia. And with the means to control production, Virtue is able to offer complete bikes at roughly $300 retail. And amazingly, their bikes are 100% chromoly—every tube on the frameset, as well as the fork. They’re also interested in doing private label work for bike shops and aspiring bike companies.

Product Highlight: Virtue Bikes

Saturday, April 2, 2011

The brand in discussion is Virtue Bikes, a small, new company based out of San Diego. What really attracts us to these bikes is that they are perfect platforms for a budget commuter or around town rider.

The “One” model is a single-speed coaster brake bike based around a relaxed geometry track frame. It has room for fat tires and fenders, as well as baskets and racks.
